Wedding Wednesday {Bachelorette Weekend}

Hey y'all,

I thought since it is finally wedding week, I thought I should share the details from the Bachelorette Weekend I planned during Memorial Day weekend. *Picture Heavy post ahead!

So, Ash and I headed down Friday morning to Wilmington, NC. We rented a townhome off of HomeAway and it was the perfect location, just before the bridge to Wrightsville and not too far from downtown. Ash and I headed to the grocery store and then set to decorating the place.

My roommate helped make the pennants from scrapbook paper and then I coordinated the goodybags for everyone.
I grabbed the bags from Groopdealz, the v-necks from Etsy (the bride also had two tanks, a sash, and a veil in her bag), and the beach spikes were ordered from Etsy plain and then a friend monogrammed them.
A lot of decor was grabbed at DollarTree and FiveBelow(like these lanterns)!

After decorating the house we still had a few hours before the rest of the group made it down so we headed to the beach. It was perfect weather and we stayed out from 4pm-7pm. Then we headed back to the house to start making dinner-tacos!
An Appropriate Beach Book

The rest of the night was planned to be a spa night but we ended up just hanging out, watching the first episode of the Bachelorette, catching up and playing a game called, How Well Do You Know the Bachelorette.

The next morning we got up early and made brunch including mimosas for a "Pancakes & Panties" lingerie shower before heading to the beach!
We got to the beach around 10am and stayed until the weather looked threatening around 2pm. We headed back to the house and lounged around eating yummy snack, watching DCOM movies (it was Disney Channel Original Movie weekend),  and napping before dinner.

Dinner was at 7:30pm at the Pilot House in downtown Wilmington, right on the water. It was so delicious.
Of course we took a few selfies at our "photobooth" area of the house.
With Jordan
I had the fried shrimp with fries and coleslaw.
The cocktails I'm told were delicious but I was playing DD.

All of us.

After dinner, we ran back to the house to grab a wallet that was left in a beach bag {always double check!}. Then we headed to downtown Wilmington and went dancing at a Russian themed bar.

We got home late and went straight to bed.

Sunday morning we headed down to Carolina Beach to stand in line for Britt's Donuts. We got there a little late in the morning(around 10am) so we ended up waiting about an hour but these donuts are amazing. There is only glazed but they melt in your mouth. Plan on getting at least two per person.

After Britts, we headed to the Ivy Cottages to look for antique mirrors for the wedding decor. We decided that we all had really bad sunburns so heading back to the beach wasn't the best idea and it was supposed to rain again all day.

We did find some mirrors and then had pizza and salad at lunch back at the house. We continued to watch more DCOMs, painted nails, put on face masks, and hung out chatting.

That night we headed to P.T.'s Grille. It has the best fries and was one of the bride's favorites in Chapel Hill before they closed that location. After dinner, we broke out some drinks, played pin the macho on the man, Heads Up and some Apples to Apples.

Monday morning, we packed up, cleaned up and went to Famous Toastery for breakfast before heading back. I was home in the Triangle by 12:30pm after such a fun weekend.

Now to prepare for another busy & fun weekend with great friends!

Best,

Miscellany Monday {Weekend Recap}

Hey y'all,

It's officially wedding week & my last at my current job so things are kind of hectic around here as I help out LC before her big day Saturday. Things to do include grabbing my bridesmaid dress from the tailor tonight, picking up my date from the airport, nails, helping stuff favors, a bridesmaid brunch, rehearsal dinner, and of course the wedding along with of course trying to eat healthy, workout and drink all the water this week. So hopefully there will not be radio silence over here but now you know.

In prep for a crazy week, I decided to go down to visit my parents for the weekend and celebrate Father's Day with my Dad.

Friday.

I left work and headed straight to my parent's house. It's nice that they don't live to far away so I was home before 7pm even with a stop to grab a diet coke since I was exhausted and needed the caffeine.

Once I got home I gave my Mom her Mother's Day & Birthday present since I hadn't seen her since March. I got my mom the second part of season one of Outlander as well as this Kate Spade coin purse since she has a ton of snail statuary in her garden.

The rest of the night was filled with my Dad's famous grilled shrimp & peppers with a side of grilled pineapple and watching a few episodes of Say Yes to the Dress & Outlander.

Saturday
I woke up pretty early on Saturday and watched some Food Network and 500 Questions before heading out to my hair appointment. I just got my hair trimmed in prep for the wedding this weekend. I snapchatted a picture to my friends but forgot to save it. Whoops. So here's a picture from this morning.
The rest of Saturday was spent grabbing my Dad's father's day gift, hanging out with my parent's cats, watching more Outlander, and then grabbing dinner out and heading to Finding Dory. It was a really cute film and if you enjoyed Nemo I think you would love it. My favorite were the adorable otters that have a cuddle party.

Sunday.
Sunday was a pretty lazy day. I had breakfast with my Daddy, watched more Food Network, helped around the house, and then left around 2pm to head back to my place.
When I got back I had packages from LOFT and ended up heading to the LOFT store to return a few things and grabbed this dress. After LOFT I headed to the grocery store, did some laundry, and watched Gilmore Girls with my roommate as I was cleaning my room/closet.

How was your weekend?
What's your favorite weekly errand?

Five on Friday {June 17}

Hi y'all,

I can't believe that it's Friday already! I'm headed to visit my parents for the weekend and I'm excited for hair cuts, great food, celebrating Father's Day, and more. Here are five things I've been loving this Friday!

one. The Tony Awards. I am a huge musical theater fan and I look forward to the Tony awards every June. I just counted and I've seen almost 20 different Broadway productions! This year I was cautious of James Corden but he did a great job as host and the performances were wonderful. However, my favorite two moments were the Law & Order roll call and when Jake Gyllenhall performed A Whole New World.
two. The Schuyler Sisters. Speaking of the Tony's I can't ignore the amazing amount of awards Hamilton won.I loved the performance of the Schuyler Sisters at the end of the Tony's. It is one of my favorite songs of the whole show.
three. Kendra Scott Alex Earrings. I went to a Kendra Scott Color Bar Party my friend Traci won this week and I created these magenta/gold pair. These are the smaller size of the Alexandra and are smaller than the traditional Danielle style as well. I wore them yesterday and I have a teal and gold pair on my wishlist now.

four.Pool Time. This past Sunday I spent 4+ hours at my complex's pool and I'm excited to spend some more relaxing time in my parent's pool this weekend when I go visit. There is nothing more restful than a book, a pool float, and sunshine.

five.Finding Dory. Yes, I will be going to see Finding Dory this weekend with all the kids ever but me and my Mom love Disney and don't mind going in a theater full of littles.

What are you up to this weekend?

Thyme for Thursday {Caesar Salad}

Hey y'all,

I thought I would share my Mom's super simple Caesar salad since it has been a staple on busy weeks over the last few months. This is great with a nice steak or grilled chicken breast and you can always mix it up. Sometimes I add in cherry tomatoes or even sliced black olives. One thing I love the most about this recipe is that you probably already have all the ingredients in your fridge and it doesn't have the anchovy paste like some Caesar salads-perfect for those with seafood allergies.

Caesar Salad
2-3 cloves of garlic, crushed
(sometimes my family goes crazy and adds in up to 6 cloves)
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tbs. lemon juice
1 egg, coddled for one minute
up to 1/3 cup olive oil
(I typically average between 1/4 cup and 1/3 cup depending on how much lettuce I have)
1-3 heads of romaine lettuce, washed and torn.
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup of croutons

In a large bowl, mix the garlic, pepper, lemon juice, and egg. Slowly, add the olive oil and mix to combine. Add lettuce and toss. Then add Parmesan cheese and croutons and toss again.

See, simple summer (really year round) salad!

Do you have a go to salad recipe?

What the Heck Wednesday {ABC Game}

Hey y'all,

I was reading Erin's blog and she said that she saw this ABC game floating around Facebook. While this was the first time I had seen it I thought, why not do this post. Here are 26 random questions and answers, if you decided to complete the game, let me know!

 A: Age-26. I turn 26.5 in August.

B: Biggest Fear-Losing my parents or my siblings. Heights. Cockroaches.

C: Current Time-11:06 AM EST

D: Drink You Last Had-Suja "Green Delight" Juice & Water

E: Everyday Starts With-The First 5 app, a large glass of water, and too many alarms to count.

F: Favorite Song Currently-Snapback by Old Dominion & Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop The Feeling

G: Ghosts, are they real?-Nope.

H: Hometown-Since my Dad was military my hometown and my birthplace are very different. I was born in San Antonio, TX. My hometown (aka where my parent's live) is in southern NC.

I: In love with-the white jeans I purchased yesterday from LOFT.
Under $30!
J: Jealous of-??? I try to stop comparisons and jealousy in the bud. I know that is something I constantly struggle with so I have been praying over it a lot and currently I can't think of anything I am specifically jealous of.

K: Killed someone?-I would be concerned if anyone said yes. I will admit to thinking I killed my betta fish Philip Radish. I think his water was too hot when I put him back in the tank after cleaning it. It was tragic watching his death.

L: Last Time You Cried-I cry a lot especially when reading books or watching movies, I got teary eyed during some of the Tony's and I expect to cry at sometime during Finding Dory when I watch it this weekend with my Mom. Disney always gets me.

M: Middle Name-Lynn

N: Number of Siblings-Three. KWD, SED, & KID.
At KID's Graduation from NCSU May 2014

O: One wish-This is hard, I think I will steal Erin's wish of an airplane that lets you fly on them for free.

P: Person you last called-LOFT customer service. I had to place an order through them due to a LOFT Cash issue.

Q: Question you're always asked-Hmmm. I can't think of anything right now apart from questions about why I don't wear my hair naturally curly a lot.

R: Reason to smile-It's hump day! It's also my last full week in my office and this weekend I am headed to my parents' house.

S: Song Last Sang-I sing in my car a lot so this morning it was Hope in Front of Me by Danny Gokey.

T: Time you woke up-The first alarm woke me at 6:02am. I got out of bed at 6:17am.

U: Underwear color-nude/beige.

V: Vacation Destination-Greece. Scotland. San Antonio to visit family friends. Charleston. Savannah.

W: Worst Habit-Eating crappy food I shouldn't especially dairy based items now that I'm lactose intolerant.
X: X-Ray's you've had. Teeth. That's it. I have had an ultrasound of my thyroid multiple times but no broken, sprained or fractured bones here.

Y: Your favorite food-My mom's stroganoff. Mexican food & a Bacon Cheese Burger are in the Top 5.

Z: Zodiac Sign-Aquarius. The Water Bearer. "Aquarius-born are shy and quiet, they are deep thinkers and highly intellectual people who love helping others. They are able to see without prejudice, on both sides, which makes them people who can easily solve problems. Although they can easily adapt to the energy that surrounds them, Aquarius-born have a deep need to be some time alone and away from everything, in order to restore power. People born under the Aquarius sign, look at the world as a place full of possibilities.Aquarius is an air sign, and as such, uses his mind at every opportunity. If there is no mental stimulation, they are bored and lack a motivation to achieve the best result.
The biggest problem for Aquarius-born is the feeling that they are limited or constrained. Because of the desire for freedom and equality for all, they will always strive to ensure freedom of speech and movement. Aquarius-born have a reputation for being cold and insensitive persons, but this is just their defense mechanism against premature intimacy. They need to learn to trust others and express their emotions in a healthy way." via

Five on Friday {June 10}

Hi y'all,

I'm sorry for the lack of posts, apparently I only saved them as drafts instead of scheduling them. Whoops! I guess I am still getting used to blogging again.

Here's my five on Friday:
via

one. Meredith Espadrille Wedges. I am in love with these wedges and they are currently on sale for under $25! I wore them to work yesterday and received a lot of compliments and my feet felt great even with running up and down between floors.

two. First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Purifying Mask with Red Clay. I picked up this peel off mask a few weeks ago and I love it! It's perfect to put on at night while catching up on some TV shows. Just warn people when you are wearing it since it is a real red color and you don't want them thinking you need to go to the dr. I'm also interested in their Facial Radiance Overnight Mask.

three. Elementary. I started to watch Elementary back when it first premiered back in 2012 and I was living at home with my parents before starting my first job post-grad. Well, I found it on Hulu and have binge watched seasons 1-3. Now to wait for season 4 to arrive on Hulu.

four.Quiet Weekends. This is my only quiet weekend this month. My only plans are teaching my sweet 4&5year olds at church, going to church, and lots of workouts between cycle, yoga, and a barre3 class.

five. Big News. It's official! I got an offer Wednesday and turned in my notice yesterday. I am changing jobs. It has been a long journey (over a year) and I'm excited for my new position. I will post more later, but I have two more weeks in my current department. It had been a busy week with telling co-workers and beginning the process of wrapping things up so thanks for your patience with my blogging over the last few months! I can finally dedicate free time to getting back to my health & blogging instead of stress eating+ job hunting.

Miscellany Monday {Weekend Recap}

Hey y'all,

It's back to the work week and I can't believe how quick the weekend went. Here's what I got up to:

Friday.
After a busy work day, I headed to the alteration shop to get my bridesmaid dress altered. It was my first time at this shop but it was recommended by the bridal salon. I hate not having the dress in my possession but I will pick it up in two weeks and my stress will go down a bit.
Since I had to be up early on Saturday I had a low key night watching old episodes of the Blacklist on Netflix while I planned out my meals for the week and made my grocery list.

Saturday.
5:30am. Yep, I got up super early on Saturday morning to meet up with a friend and drive to Asheboro to the NC Zoo for the Run Wild 5K. It was hot but it was fun to run through the zoo-we saw Zebras and Lions when going through the course.

CB, me and MM.
After the run, CB and I decided to stick around and visit the zoo (you got a ticket in your race packet) and wander through all the exhibits. Our favorite part of the day though was doing the Giraffe Deck. For $2 we got to feed the giraffes! Giraffes are my favorite land animal and feeding four giraffes some romaine lettuce was the highlight of the day. CB has most of the photos on her phone but I can't wait to see them!
All the Romaine! This is Leah.
Meet Jack
The rest of the day after we got back around 2pm was spent relaxing before heading to church, dinner to celebrate SJ's 30th birthday and then watching Jurassic Park with our group at SJ's house. It was a long day but so much fun!

Sunday.
I decided to pick up my room first thing Sunday morning instead of heading out to yoga. It was a nice way to start the day before I headed out to Aldi and Target for groceries for the week.
When I got back it was time for more cleaning, laundry and watching the Blacklist before heading out to a Barre3 class. It was a tough class, and my first for the Barre3 Anywhere Challenge. I'm thankful for the AMAZING instructors at the Five Points location and I'm excited for another class after work today! After class, I headed home to finish laundry, cook dinner, and prep some meals for the week.
Sweaty Selfie Sunday?
At 8pm, I met up with my small group leader, Sam, at Starbucks and she got me the sweetest gift of the pineapple tumbler I had been eyeing. It was a great 2 hour chat session planning out our lesson for the week and catching up on life.
How was your weekend?
Anything fun planned for your week?
