I know I normally post about books on Wednesdays but this week I figured I would share a few things that have been happening in my life with the big one being talking to my doctor and being told I most likely have developed an intolerance to lactose. (insert crying emoji) My doctor said this is actually quiet common especially in adults to develop primary lactose intolerance. Essentially, when I was born I produced plenty of lactase but by adulthood my lactase production fell off making milk products hard to digest.

I have gone dairy-free since mid-February and even with some hiccups (pizza while babysitting and a couple of quesadillas) it has been so much better.
So, expect some posts as I figure out this whole thing and experiment with things like dairy-free yogurt, cheese and ice cream (Ben & Jerry's Vegan Dairy-Free Dessert was delicious). I also might have more recipes as I figure out things without my beloved friend cheese.
Some resources I have found include my pinterest board, Robyn's blog Real Food Whole Life, and Danielle Walker's books and blog Against All Grain.
Please let me know if you have any recipes or resources and if you are intolerant or avoid dairy in general!
Best,
ps. Oreos are vegan=no dairy.
I've been tempted to try the diary free lifestyle because I've been battling serious bloat issues but I'm not sure exactly what the culprit is yet! Best wishes on finding the right balance for you!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jess! Sorry about your dairy intolerance... my mom is allergic to dairy so I know the struggles all to well. Cute blog! :)

Ugh, such a bummer but hopefully you're on your way to feeling better soon! Is almond milk okay? We LOVE that stuff, it's so good and yay for Oreo's!
